While paying for gas this morning, my small fossilized rock fell out of my change purse while fishing for cash and coupon. I mumbled something about, “Whoops, guess you don’t want my fossil as payment for gas. But I do have a coupon.” The cashier took my payment, then looked up and asked, “Did you say fossil?” So I showed him my “souvenir” from a short trail walk at the North Rim of Grand Canyon a few years ago…he was engaged, impressed and conversed about his preference toward geologic displays at museums and on trips, also….not what I expected from the tall, sturdy, bald guy manning the register. But certainly a way to brighten a beautiful spring morning even more through that connection!
Just a Yooper thing? It’s your call.
