Well, it was last June, really, and I am just now getting this post up. A mother and baby (cow/calf) were attempting to cross US 41 as we were driving west to Lanse/Baraga near Champion. The mother made it all the way across into the trees, but the calf got skittish and turned back. The mother sat and waited; we did a quick U-turn to pull off and watch. While a number of us in cars lined up alongside the road, as well, I began shooting to try and capture the mother moose through the trees and brush. One successfully focused shot! My first moose sighting on record!

We waited a bit to see if the calf would re-join the cow, but we did not and continued on our way…
